Andy firstly thank you for giving me a short list of films I must see! I love Wick and Excalibur is in the category of movie my Dad let me watch a bit too early, but love it and that’s a good memory. I’d not connected these movies without your autopsy. Wick visually and sonically is a favorite “shoot em up” movie, but like most of those (which I tend to gravitate to) there is more there (honor, respect, know thy opponent, human ability to change and adapt to an extent given the ring inputs {yet to a certain depth only, we are who we are past another}, value traditions and customs). I’d not rely on Wick to teach my own son life lessons, but it’s a tool to connect some meaning when he’s not wanting to hear it from me.

Yeah if we strip away the style it’s a classic chivalric core film.
